1. List three quotes from Macbeth. This is due by the end of class time on Tuesday, 2/01/11.
2. Explain how these quotes relate to the character who spoke the lines, or how they relate to the action.
You may use the list of quotes in the Macbeth packet I gave you. However, you must also include step 2, above.

Out, damned spot! Out I say! This is important because it shows that Lady Macbeth has feelings and that she is guilty about murdering Duncan. She is sleep walking. When she is awake she is cruel and mean, but when she is asleep she is guilty and the murder is on her mind.(Act V, Scene 1) CC
"What's done is done". (Act 3, Scene 2) Lady Macbeth says this after Duncan is killed. It is important because it proves that they cannot undo what has been done. (i.e Killing Duncan and killing Banquo in the future).CC
Macbeth= "There's daggers in men's smiles". (act 2, sc. vii) Its important because it talks about the invisible daggers in his mind which temped him to kill Duncan. JD
Macbeth= "I bear a charmed life". (act V, sc. VIII) It's important because he think he's invincible because of the prophecy.JD
Macbeth= "What's done is done.(act 3,scene 2) It's important because macbeth is accepting he killed Duncan.JD (John, this has been used.)
Double, Double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. (Act IV, Scene I) This is the scene when Macbeth come to talk to the witches and asks about his future and what will happen -SH
If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me. ( Act I, Scene III) this is when Macbeth just heard that he is supposed to be king. -SH
When shall we meet again in thunder, lightning, or rain? When the hurlyburly's done, when the battle's lost and won ( Act I, Scene III) The three witches are saying when they are going to meet again, in the three different signs of a storm.-SH
"I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself, and falls on the other." This is Macbeth talking, or rather thinking, in his soliloquy. He is arguing with himself about what Lady Macbeth told him to do....kill Duncan. He is thinking about how wrong that would be, not just because Duncan is the king, but he is also his guest. He said there is no force that makes him kill Duncan besides his own "ambitions". -VS "Is this a dagger I see before me? The handle toward my hand?" This is said by Macbeth. He is feeling so unseasy about what he is about to do (kill Duncan) that he is hallucinating about the weapon that he will use to kill him. -VS
"Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red." Lady Macbeth says this. It shows that she is feeling very guilty about murdering Duncan. She is saying that he cannot wash her hands, even in the largest ocean. (This is not literal, of course. She only means that the guilt of her deed will haunt her for the rest of her life.) -VS
All the perfumes in Arabia will not sweeten this little hand.(Act 5 Scene 1) Lady Macbeth is talking here. It is important because it shows that she is guilty about killing Duncan and that she cannot get the blood off of her hands. CC
"As I did stand my watch upon the hill, I looked toward Birnam, and anon methought The wood began to move." It is immportant because the third apparition Macbeth can be harmed only when wood moves.MH
